This song is not new by any means and neither is the music video but it’s new to me and a bit of a gem. The song is “Jaguar” by DJ Rolando on Underground Resistance/430 West. The song was so desired by Sony at one point when it was released that when Sony Music wasn’t able to license the track they ripped it off without any permission or licensing! Had some other guy rewrite it with the same structure and recognizable hook. Despite it’s release in 2000 it’s a classic techno anthem nowadays from the second wave of Detroit techno. The video was shot in Mexicantown and some Detroiters will recognize scenes and maybe some old murals but it’s also a look into Detroit’s Mexican culture that is too often hidden from outside view.
