Detroit-based Made in Detroit Inc. has announced plans for 93 luxury lofts to be built in the Detroit Creamery building on Spruce Street south of Grand River near the MotorCity Casino. The building, built in 1914, was designed by Albert Kahn. It will be great if the plans go through but the company has had trouble in the past:
Made in Detroit was caught up in a controversy downriver after the company bought 650 acres in Trenton and Gibraltar in 1997, planning to build more than 300 single-family homes and a golf course.
The company’s plans were stalled by complaints from environmentalists about impact on Humbug Marsh.
